Esoteric Update #230 - The Inner Voice

Time for a new update. First off, have some lore:

Now for the update proper.

About half of our work this week follows directly after what we showed with the last update. Firstly, we swapped out the tooltips from the tutorial segment for the proper terms in the new system. Secondly, we changed the initial facts to fully and correctly take into account starting Theory skills; this included fixing an error we found with the previous way of doing this. And thirdly, we codified the new systems in the Index.

Now, what about the other half of the week? Well, we are preparing some new content to test out, just a proof of concept for something related to the... very idea of letting the player character think. Well, you might have seen us talk about it before on Discord, but if you haven't, we should have something ready to show off soon. For what we're doing at the moment, we've already finished most of the writing, but there was a surprising bit of coding that needed to be done to extend our current set of functionality.

Finally, some announcements.

I am not doing well mentally or emotionally; it's just how things are.

I've also decided to shutter our Twitter. With the absolute lack of any response on there from anyone, it's just another place where I waste my time screaming into the void, trying to attract any crumbs of attention. This update will be the last one we post there. We'll continue posting on Itch and Patreon as usual. And obviously on Discord.

I'm taking a break from my regular (paid) work, which means I might have considerably more time to sit on the game for the next... month or so? I can't avoid working for more than that, though.
