Esoteric Update #198 - This Went Better


This week was better.

But let's start with some lore:

Lore: Scars Upon The Soul

Now for the update. I had a rough week at work, so I was worried initially, but I managed to get a lot done over the weekend. Setting goals helped. So what got done?

Well, lots of aura reading related writing. I still don't want to spoil that too much, though. Especially now that some of the texts have much more developed effects. I wrote on Twitter about the exact types of effects I've implemented, but the gist is that the way it works now plays a lot more into the lore related to Oculomancy. And that's something that happens to make me happy.

Another thing that got finished is the initial pre-selection of alcohols to implement into the game. Of course, the bar needs alcohol to function, but this feels like something that will pop up a lot. The information we've compiled covers both aspects important to mechanics (serving sizes, ABV) and narration (appearance, flavour).

Additionally, I've managed to get a good deal of lore writing done. I want to include more lore that explicitly covers things mages would know about some of the current mechanics we've been implementing. Some of those things remain unmentioned in anything but our internal notes.

This week I want to focus on clearing backlog issues. There are clothing items that need to be placed into the game, and some things that are almost done but need some writing. I might make getting the vending machines running a goal.
