Esoteric Update #87 - Going Commando


Ok, so a week has passed, and I've managed to put some decent work into the game once more. Honestly, I am happy the Jam is over, and I don't have to work on Waifu anymore.

However, on the other hand, this is a very technical post. So read on if you are interested in the behind the scene details the clothing systems. Otherwise... well, maybe I'll have something next week.

First off, there is now a translation between the inventory slots and body parts. Meaning that the game can now track what's covered by what. This is an essential set of data for further narration and mechanics.

Speaking of mechanics, based on the coverage system and the inventory slots, I wrote a tool the AI can use to determine what items of clothing to remove or adjust to get to specific body parts. There's a good deal of applications for this which I'll get to soon enough.

I then also looked into translating the whole clothing system into semantic information. Started out with the most basic take on the issue of clothing - what's culturally acceptable to show and what isn't. With an additional emphasis on flashing some flesh and either not wearing lingerie underneath (or is wearing particularly spicy lingerie). Right now, this still isn't finished since I still need to derive information on the general clothing style the character is wearing, but it's going in a good direction. At the moment I'm considering three types of clothing - casual, stylish and sexy.

Finally, with the information already available, I've started planning some random events that make use of it.
