Esoteric Update #114 - A New Look


Continuing being on track this week. There's a bunch of things I managed to get done. But let's start with the lore:

Now, for changes, in no particular order. Firstly, I added the tiniest bit of Discord integration, in the form of invites. Thanks to this, you can now access the chat from the game's main menu (it will open in your browser of choice):

Which means that there are a few more API tokens, no longer that round 250, but not yet that round 256.

Now, another mechanical update happened here:

I've also added some new conditionals to the following categories, but this whole category is entirely new.

The main chunk of work, however, went into the clothing:

At the moment it seems the first batch will come up to about 100 templates resolving to 2000 specific items, with different colours or materials. We don't plan to stop here though, and over time we'll be releasing more. What this set contains, however, is enough items to style a character in various more or less casual ways. Basically enough to dress yourself. Tops are still not implemented, the writing for them is done, but I've not managed to sit down and design all of the templates yet, I also need to move sweaters to the coat slot. Work on the items this time also included some coding, as there's a bunch of specific items that have restrictions and need to be paired with a different item. Specifically, a tie might require a collared shirt to wear, and a garter might require something like stockings to attach to. I'm still not sure all the conditions for both of those are correct, but I'm treating it as a work in process.

Soon I'll be done with this, and I'll do an indev release to let people play in the clothing system and poke some holes in it.
