Esoteric Update #140 - An Unfortunate Announcement, Once More


Well, I think I'll just start with the announcement. So, on Friday, I ended up at the doctor's for reasons unrelated to what I'm going to say, but we had a long talk I've stewed on for a few days. Essentially, and I guess people who interact with me more regularly could feel this since I started getting comments about it, my health's been deteriorating lately. It's nothing that has... well... a finality to it. But the point is that I need to rest and recover. There will be no update next week, and in two weeks from now, I'll be taking a break from my regular work. As such, this is the plan for the next few weeks:

14.06 - 20.06: Focus on getting just work done. No update;
21.06 - 27.06: Take it easy. Do an update with various small tasks I was capable of carrying out during this time;
28.06 - 18.07: Take a break from work, focus on the game. Back to regular updates.

I'm not happy about this, but Saturday and Sunday were a nightmare. I've not managed to do most of the things I've planned and, as such, backlogged a bunch of things. If I tried to push through this by force, it would be likely I'd end up in the hospital for more than a week. I'd say that would be suboptimal for all parties involved.

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled update, starting with the lore:

Now for what we've actually been up to this week? Well, for the reasons I explained above, I'll try to keep the update short from this point on. Firstly, I resolved the corset templates; there's a good selection of styles, materials and colours. We've also implemented fishnet legwear and fishnet armwear, the latter introducing additional types of items using other materials as well. That means there are currently almost 2.3k different clothing items already in the game. I also ran some tests to check if everything is alright, found a few issues with the clothing and fixed it. There were some mismatched stat and descriptions that got adjusted to proper values. We're also pushing forward with dresses, some more accessories and some loose ends regarding lingerie. This should be done in the next update. After that, for items, we'll likely be working on fetish wear or sex toys; I'm not sure yet. However, since items don't have priority over other things, we'll see when we can actually get to this.

I've also worked on some new functionality for the inventory. The first was an implementation of parametric items. That is to say, things that have, while in the character's or any other inventory, parameters attached to them. Currently, there's just some test data for it, but I plan on using this extensively in the future. Second, I've been experimenting with filtering the inventory. I might add a general option to adjust the filtering for the currently open inventory based on it. Additionally, I might swing it for the ability to equip items to slots by clicking on an empty slot.

Finally, I'm revisiting insults; hilarity might ensue.

Additionally looking at potential team growth to five people, but we'll see how it goes.

So yeah, that's it. I'm not happy with how much I managed to do vs how much I planned, but that's how things go when you blackout several times on your two free days.
