Esoteric Update #211 - A Walk Through The Park
Ok, so last time I didn't have time to post additional texts, I said I'd rectify that so... firstly, have this explanation of the List datatype in Ink:

And now for the update. Well, well, well, what can I say? I've been working on content. But it's a bit of an unexpected segment, so let me explain...
I've been working with Ink for the last few weeks, as you might have noticed, and I'm starting to possibly appreciate even the possibilities it opens to me. You know, even though I can use the standard GB elements, doing it with Ink lets me test events more efficiently, and quite possibly, I can also use it to build complex webs of events more quickly. Something a bit more interlocked than what we've been trying to do so far, and as such, something that feels better and more interesting to play through.
However, I'm choosing to step away from the bar, partially because I'm not yet sure the above is true and partly because I'm just starting to feel burned out on that setting and characters. I'd prefer to do something else for the moment, in any case. And if I make something for the park, even if it doesn't work, it won't be that important.
So for the moment, I'm trying to build a set of events for the park, which, if successful, might actually finish that location in regards to how we've envisioned it being used outside of dates with other characters. The solo content, you might say. And there's a good chance we might get that done soon because, due to my health, I'm getting a few days off this month when I don't have to work.
We'll see how it goes, but I hope I can put some good work into that location. I've already started building the basis for the events and working on some writing. There's a lot to do, though.
And if it doesn't work, it should be less of a disaster than messing up the bar, which is more complex and deals with more moving parts. I think that even if this does not succeed, I can move most of the writing out of Ink and put it in using raw GB.
However, if this succeeds, we'll likely have a module on our hands that is about as useful as the original GB implementation. Really, a powerful extension of it.
Unfortunately, I can't predict the future; I can only try to work this out.
