Esoteric Update #220 - I Give Up (For This Week)

This week hasn't gone well. As noted in my previous post, I am going to the hospital in a few days, and I am not having a good time. Quite frankly, working on the game over the last few days has just been adding to my already considerable emotional distress. I just give up for now. I can't get anything done. Everything I've tried to work on has just turned to shit right in my hands.

That said, I would like to say that other people have put some work into the game, and I'd like to discuss something.

So basically, we've been using PlaceIMG for placeholder images for a while. This service is shutting down, however, thus forcing us to find something else or just... un-placeholder the images. About a year ago, I would say that doing this would require immense amounts of effort to scrape appropriately licenced image repositories for pictures we can use. But right now, it's a lot easier to employ AI instead. But... I wanted to also employ some of the image manipulation features I implemented before, so...

As it turns out, because I was using a deferred call for the image URI to insert, and the draw command totally can be substituted for an image URI, altering the call was trivial. So now we have the calls that were previously going to fetch a placeholder image fetch our own images:

Also, the level of alteration isn't major, but it's still visible if you see the images next to each other:

And yes, I started by just servicing four images. It was easier to check if the alterations worked this way, but many more images will be added later.
